[slideshow_deploy id=’982′] On June 30, four teachers from Cecil County traveled to Boston to be a part of the NEA Representative Assembly which is historically held the week of July 4th.  The NEA RA is a body of elected delegates from all US states, Department of Defense schools, and US protectorates with members being elected locally and at the state level.  This year delegates discussed several NEA constitutional amendments and policies and voted on 159 new business items covering a wide array of topics including the school to prison pipeline, trauma impacted students, charter schools, restorative justice, human and civil rights, anti discrimination and support for all students and staff, necessary resources for students with disabilities, and many others.  Educators also heard inspiring messages from the National Teacher of the Year, the ESP of the Year, and the NEA Friend of Education, Levar Burton.  Throughout the year committees, members, and staff will work together to bring about the changes and information called for in the new business items which were passed.
